John Trautmann (Monroe Woodbury, NY) set the HSR in the 3,000 meters of 8:05.8 (Converts to 8:44.53 for 2 miles)at the Penn Relays as a Senior in "86". (Bested by Galen Rupp in "04") John was a "92" U.S. Olympian. | Donald Sage (York, IL) ran a 4:00.29 mile at the Prefontaine Classic in 2000. At the IL State meet: he doubled a 8:42.89 3200 (= to 8:45.92 - 2 mile), last lap in 57. Then came back(2hrs) to win the 1600 in 4:07.58 (= to 4:09.23 - mile), last lap in under 57. Sage is the "02" NCAA outdoor 1,500m champion. | Chris Solinsky (Stevens Point, WI, "03") won the 36 annual Arcadia Invitational 3200 in California with a 8:43.24 (= to 8:46.44 - 2 mile). |

Prior April 8, 1978 @ WSU-Cal-Arizona State triangular, Henry Rono was only 3rd on the WSU all-time list for 5000m. Only 13minutes, 8.4 seconds later, Rono nails the school record. It also happens to be a World record, chopping 4.5 seconds off Dick Quax's 9 month old record. Kimombwa & Kimeto pushed Rono(above) for the first few laps...but @ the finish, Rono(above) was alone. |
